Time: Sep 27, 2024 9:00 AM - 9:55 AM
Speaker: Dr. Marcela Alvarez

Communication between the orthodontist and the restorative dentist is essential when definitive restorative dentistry is required at the end of orthodontic treatment. During the process of attrition and erosion, the teeth move into positions that make orthodontic treatment and restorative dentistry very difficult. The Pre-Orthodontic Bonding concept is an updated approach to interdisciplinary treatment planning the worn dentition. The objective of this concept is to give a guided prescription to the orthodontist by restoring the worn teeth to their ideal length and width, independent of the occlusion and limited only to worn areas, before starting orthodontic treatment. This concept is used to direct the orthodontic movement of the teeth into the precisely correct positions for the definitive restorative therapy.

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand how the Restorative Dentist can effectively communicate with the orthodontist to accomplish an optimum result for the orthodontic/restorative patient.
  2. Establish the proper diagnosis of short teeth followed with the right treatment sequence
  3. Be able to use the Pre-Orthodontic Bonding concept
