A native of Toledo, Ohio, Gary earned his DDS from Case Western Reserve University in 1980. Immediately following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. In 1995 he completed the University of Florida Facial Pain Center mini-residency and in 2004 earned the M. S. in Biomedical Sciences degree at The University of Toledo College of Medicine. Following graduation, Gary and his wife Cheryl founded a practice in Pemberville, Ohio where they practiced together until 2001 when Cheryl returned to school where she earned her ortho certificate and a PhD. In 2003 Gary accepted a position as clinical director at The Pankey Institute, and in 2008 joined Frank Spear’s Seattle Institute as President. With the merger of the Seattle Institute and the Scottsdale Center he became Executive Vice-President of Spear Education in Scottsdale, Arizona, the position he holds today. He teaches in Spear workshops and seminars, in Spear Practice Solutions workshops and seminars, and maintains a limited practice on the Spear campus. Gary is a member of the ADA, the Arizona Dental Association, the Central Arizona Dental Society, the American Equilibration Society, the American Academy of Oro-Facial Pain, the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He also applied for membership in the American Academy of Gnathology after being invited to this speaking opportunity.
